Nepal’s third defeat in the ongoing four-nation series in Uganda

KATHMANDU: Nepal has suffered its third defeat in the ongoing four-nation series organized by the Uganda Cricket Association.

Nepal suffered its second defeat in the tournament after losing by 23 runs in the match against Namibia on Wednesday. Chasing the target of 126 runs set by Namibia, Nepal scored 102 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.

For Nepal, Sana Prabin top-scored with 31 runs, while Pooja Mahato and captain Indu Verma scored 15 runs each.

Earlier, Namibia lost the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 125 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Yasmin Khan top-scored with 45 runs for Namibia, while Arasta Diergaart scored 16, Wilka Amwatil scored 20 and Sune Wittman scored 15 runs.

Similarly, Nepali bowler Ishwari Bista took 3 wickets, while Rachana Chaudhary took 2 wickets, and Indu Verma and Riya Shrestha took one wicket each.

Nepal has won one and lost three of its four matches in this series. Nepal had previously lost to Namibia and Hong Kong, but defeated hosts Uganda. Similarly, Namibia has won two and lost two of its four matches.

Nepal is now scheduled to play against Uganda on Thursday and against Hong Kong on March 14. After that, matches are scheduled between the first and second-placed countries and the third and fourth-placed countries on March 16.
