KATHMANDU: In Thursday’s 15th Big Bash League (BBL) draft, none of the six Nepali cricketers entered were selected by any of the eight competing teams.

Despite 15 players securing contracts in this year’s draft, the Nepali contingent—including notable names like Sandeep Lamichhane, Dev Khanal, Sher Malla, Arjun Saud, Bipin Sharma, and Arif Sheikh—were left out of the final squads.

Among these players, Sandeep Lamichhane remains the only Nepali cricketer to have gained experience in the BBL. Over the past seasons, Sandeep has featured for two prominent franchises—the Melbourne Stars and the Hobart Hurricanes—representing each team in two different editions.

Statistically, Sandeep has participated in 43 BBL matches to date, during which he has taken 48 wickets.

The eight franchises competing in the BBL are: Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers, and Sydney Thunder.

The BBL draft was broadcast live in Australia on Seven Network, 7plus, Fox Sports, and Kayo Sports.
