KATHMANDU: Nepal faced a heavy defeat against India in the SAFF U-19 Championship held at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Arunachal, India, on Tuesday.
The home team secured a 4-0 victory over Nepal. India scored two goals in the first half and added two more in the second half to seal the win.
Despite the loss, Nepal had already secured a spot in the semifinals by defeating Sri Lanka 5-0 in their opening match.
From Group ‘B,’ India advanced as the group winner, while Nepal progressed as the runner-up.
In Group ‘A,’ Bangladesh topped the group, with the Maldives finishing as the runner-up. Sri Lanka and Bhutan have been eliminated from the tournament.
In the semifinals, Nepal will face Bangladesh, while India will play against the Maldives in the other semifinal match.
