KATHMANDU: A 22-member team from the Indian Army has successfully scaled Mount Everest (8,848 meters) today.

The expedition was led by Lieutenant Colonel Bhanoo Pathak.

The successful ascent was confirmed by Indian authorities, including the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army.

The mountaineering mission is part of the Indian Army’s broader efforts to engage in high-altitude training and adventure activities.

The team’s accomplishment adds to the record of military-led expeditions on the world’s highest peak.

Nepalese authorities coordinated with the team as per standard mountaineering protocols. The climb was completed during the spring climbing season, which draws teams from around the world to the Himalayas.
