Flood alert issued for 15 districts including Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The Flood Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a flood alert today (Wednesday).

Small rivers in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Baglung, Myagdi, Parbat, Baitadi, Darchula, and surrounding districts are experiencing significant increases in flow, with a high likelihood of moderate flash floods.

Similarly, several districts including Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Sindhuli, Gulmi, Palpa, and others face a moderate risk of flash floods due to rising river flows.

Meanwhile, rivers in Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar, Solukhumbu, Ramechhap, Bhojpur, Nuwakot, Dhading, Rautahat, Rukum East, Dang, Bardiya, and nearby districts are also seeing increased flow but with only a low risk of flash floods.

The Flood Forecasting Division has issued a yellow alert for 15 districts, including Kathmandu.
