KATHMANDU: The Flood Forecasting Division on Sunday issued a public advisory urging caution, as water levels in several major rivers—including the Karnali, Mahakali, East Rapti, West Rapti, Kankai, Kamala, Bagmati, and Babai—continue to fluctuate.

Although these rivers are currently projected to remain below the official alert level for the next three days, the Division warned that sudden rises could still endanger nearby communities.

The Koshi and Narayani rivers, along with their major tributaries, are expected to hover around the alert mark. The Division has called for a high-alert status in the surrounding coastal regions and recommended necessary safety measures.

In addition to the large rivers, smaller rivers in districts including Ilam, Panchthar, Dhankuta, Udayapur, Kavrepalanchok, Sindhuli, Makawanpur, Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, Gorkha, Lamjung, Kaski, and many others are expected to experience a rise in water levels.

The Division warned of a heightened risk of flash floods, especially in vulnerable hill and Terai districts, and advised local communities in coastal areas to remain vigilant.
