Kathmandu Animal Treatment (KAT) Centre will hold Nepal's first-ever adoption fest on Sunday, May 29, at their premises in Budhanilkantha. For the fest time in Nepal, such a festival is being organized and offers people an opportunity to adopt a pet and chose from animals of all shapes, sizes, and ages. It is an event with a difference and people are invited to visit and see if they can find a companion and provide these animals a much-needed home.
According to Aakash Dhakal, the program coordinator, "There will be 48 rescued cats and dogs available for adoption. We will also be providing one year of treatment for the adopted animals."
KAT centre UK is a non-profit organisation established to promote animal welfare in Nepal with its objectives to create a healthy and sustainable street dog population, to reduce animal cruelty, and to eradicate rabies in Kathmandu. "Whenever we bring in rescued dogs and cats, we do everything in our power to help them, whether it's vaccination, animal birth control, emergency rescue, or even feeding them," Dhakal adds.
After the animals have fully recovered, the center attempts to place them in adoption or leave them in the community from where they were rescued. He continues, "We do so in order to keep the animals safe and healthy and hope to provide them a good and healthy life."
They have animals of all shapes, sizes, and ages. “Adopting from KAT means giving a furry friend the future he or she deserves. Even though our team goes to great lengths to make a dog or cat comfortable, it needs a forever home, and we think you could be the angel who helps them find one hence the reason why we are hosting the adoption fest,” adds Dhakal.
