South Africa's National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NICD) said the number of laboratory-confirmed measles cases in the country so far rose to 766 as of Friday.
"All South African provinces except the Eastern Cape have been declared measles-endemic areas," the NICD said in a statement.
More than 42 percent of those infected are children. The government has requested all people to vaccinate their children against measles. The main symptoms of measles infection include high fever, cough, red eyes and runny nose.
