All border crossings with India will be closed from midnight on Thursday, November 17, aiming at the security of the elections to the House of Representatives and the State Assembly, which will be held in one phase on November 20. The border crossing will be closed from 12:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, until the evening of Election Day.
Informing that the Indian side has been requested to close the border crossing during the election, Home Ministry spokesperson Fanindramani Pokharel has announced that the border crossing will be closed 72 hours before the election. Still, in case of an emergency, movement will be allowed.
Spokesman Pokharel has also informed that the government has decided to give public holidays on Election Day and the day after.
