Defence Minister insists on significant progress in projects of national pride

KATHMANDU: Minister for Defence, Manbir Rai, has stressed that the projects of national pride and of national priorities should secure significant progress within the next three months.

 During the First Quarterly Progress Review and a meeting of the Ministry-Level Development Action Committee held at the Defence Ministry today, the Minister said this.

According to him, the Khandbari-Kimathanka road track is likely to be opened within the next three months while discussions with stakeholders concerned is undergoing to conclude the matters concerning the entry point towards the Kathmandu section along the Kathmandu-Tarai/Madhesh fast track project.

He said the project will gain momentum once the misunderstanding over the Khokaha entry point gets resolved.

National Planning Commission Vice Chair Shibaraj Adhikari said the progress of the Ministry and its subordinate bodies is hope-raising. He advised the Ministry to keep records of the labour force employed in various projects.

Chief of Army Staff, Ashokraj Sigdel, said the NA Headquarters is ever ready to address issues in the project implementation.

The expenditures of the Ministry and its subordinate bodies in the first three months of the current fiscal year were 24.95 per cent: 27.59 per cent towards the current expenditures and 0.96 per cent of the capital expenditures.
