KATHMANDU: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has paid last respect to Padam Bahadur Rai, party central committee member, by draping Rai's body with the party flag today.
Rai died at the age of 58 during treatment at Bir Hospital on November 23 in the capital, Kathmandu. He was suffering from Parkinson's disease. Rai's mortal remains are kept in the party central office premises at Parisdanda, Koteshwar for paying last tribute.
Vice chair duo Agni Prasad Sapkota and Pampha Bhusal, former Speaker Onsari Gharti, former Ministers, MPs, party leaders and cadres paid tribute to him.
Rai was a member of the Interim Legislative Parliament and also the Minister of State for Physical Infrastructure. He was elected from Bhojpur Constituency-1.
According to the party, his body will be cremated today at the electric crematorium in Pashupati. He is survived by a wife, a son and a daughter.
