The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Tuesday confirmed the detection of 12,008 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 927,880. Additionally, 2,567 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 8 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,667. Presently, there are 88,934 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley alone have recorded 6,172 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 4,875 cases, Lalitpur logged 782 cases and Bhaktapur logged 515 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 3,040 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 827,279 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 89.2 percent while the fatality rate is 1.4 percent.
Earlier, the MoHP on Monday confirmed the detection of 10,319 new cases of coronavirus infection.
As of Tuesday, a total of 5,156,419 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 87,117 people staying in isolation while 165 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
