Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' said that safeguarding constitution and strengthening federal democratic republican system is need of the hour.
In a message given on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti, also Makar Sankranti and Maghi, here today, PM Dahal said that the incumbent government was moving ahead keeping good-governance, prosperity and social justice in centre. Stating that constitution had acknowledged the multiple ethnicities, languages, religions and cultures of the country, the PM underscored the need for one and all to work towards building prosperous Nepal by strengthening various ethnicities, languages, and cultures.
He expressed his confidence that the festival would significantly contribute in strengthening national unity, augmenting goodwill and respecting each others' identity and different cultures.
Extending greetings on the festival having different names and observed by various communities, the Head of the Government said that Nepal's diversity and richness in ethnicity, languages and cultures are pride and common assets.
Dahal asserted the Maghe Sankranti is a special one based on the culture and characteristics of Khas-Arya, Magar, Rai, Tharu, Limbu, Newar, Gurung, Maithali, Kumal and other tribes.
According to him, the Maghi festival is a testimony to the cultural identity and diversity of Nepal and it validates the ethnic identity of different communities, traditional institutions, customs, co-existence of cultural diversity and national unity.
