In order to reduce the damage and psychosocial impact caused by the corona epidemic in Dang, the two municipalities of the district have started the vaccination campaign and psycho-counseling.
At the Orientation and Coordination Workshop on Covid-19 Preparedness and Response Operation Project organized by Nepal Red Cross Society Dang in coordination with the Health Office, Project Chief Raj Kumar Chhetri said that the search and vaccination policy would be carried out in collaboration with the municipality.
"The campaign will be important to provide life-saving skills to families affected by covid-19 through scientific psychosocial counseling," he said.
He said that there is a strategy to decentralize the vaccination campaign and provide vaccines to every citizens even in remote areas, even if it means setting up mobile camps.
So far, only 89.5 percent of the people in the district have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. According to the health office, only two people are actively infected in the district at present. Of the 13,230 infected, 337 have lost their lives.
Chief of the office, Angad Bahadur Shahi, appealed to the concerned people to reach out identify the problem as the campaign being launched by the two municipalities would do special work to control the spread of covid-19.
He said that access to vaccination should be increased along with easy information and counseling as there is diversity in the geography of the district. Speaking on the occasion, Chief District Officer Hiralal Regmi said that the Covid disaster was not only a difficult time but also a lesson to be learned from the past practice.
"It's not just a Covid disaster, it's a serious humanitarian learning. Our machinery has been used to the best of our ability when the forecast didn't work out," he said.
