India has been struggling against a devastating second wave of COVID-19 infections, but now the country is suffering another epidemic blow as a rare fungal infection affecting some COVID-19 patients was declared an epidemic.
The shortage of medicine "Amphotericin B" used for treating Mucormycosis, or Black Fungus, a disease being diagnosed among diabetic COVID-19 patients in India, will be resolved soon, said a government minister on Thursday.
Authorities in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh said on Wednesday that 50 cases of black fungus also known as Mucormycosis were reported among COVID-19 patients.
