As of mid-April this year, 232 industries have been registered. In the corresponding period of the previous year, 169 domestic and foreign industries were registered. So far, 8,687 industries have been registered, according to the Department of Industry. During the nine months of FY 2078/79, 67 large, 82 medium and 83 small scale industries were registered. In the corresponding period of the previous year, 33 large, 40 medium and 96 small scale industries were registered. According to the department, 1,281 large, 1,991 medium and 5,415 small scale industries have been registered so far, said Ram Chandra Tiwari, director-general of the department.
According to the Industrial Business Act, 2076, industries with fixed capital of up to Rs. 150 million are considered small industries, and industries with fixed capital of Rs 150 million to Rs. 500 million. As of the third quarter of the current fiscal year, an investment of Rs. 266 billion has been proposed in 232 industries. Last year, the proposed investment was Rs. 139 billion. So far, an investment of Rs. 2.5 trillion has been proposed. As of mid-April, 23 designs and 2,356 trademarks have been registered, according to the department.
Urgent service in the company registry office
The company registry office has started providing only essential services due to a lack of staff. As most of the employees have been deployed in the upcoming local level election, only the work related to company registration, company administration and records has been carried out since April 8, according to the office.
