The Inland Revenue Office Biratnagar has collected a total of Rs 4 billion 166.76 million in the first six months of the current fiscal year. The office had set a target of collecting Rs. 4.38 billion in the same period. This amount is Rs. 222.22 million less revenue collection than the actual target.
In the corresponding period of the previous year, revenue of Rs. 3.88 billion was collected. The office had set a target of collecting Rs. 3.91 billion in the same period. The office had collected Rs. 25.554 million less revenue than the target.
The office has managed to collect Rs. 277.03 million more than the revenue collected in the same period last year, said Surya Prasad Pokharel, head of the office. He said that seven percent more revenue was collected in that period than last year. The revenue collected by the office includes income tax of Rs. 1.7 billion, property tax of Rs. 502.5 million, VAT of Rs. 1.56 billion, Excise duty of Rs. 1.299 billion, and so on.
Of the collected revenue, Rs. 181.44 million was collected from Taxpayer Service Office, Birat Chowk, Rs. 160.7 million from Taxpayer Service Office, Pathari, and Rs. 3.88 billion from Biratnagar Inland Revenue Office.
