Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning of Bagmati Province, Kailash Prasad Dhungel, will be announcing the provincial budget for the next fiscal year 2078/79 on Tuesday (June 15). The budget will be announced during the meeting of the National Assembly which will begin at 3 pm.
Minister Dhungel has informed that the budget for next fiscal year will give priority to the treatment of patients infected with COVID-19 and enhancing the facilities of health institutions in all 13 districts of the province. The budget will also prioritise the vaccination campaign, he added.
He mentioned that the budget will also lay emphasis on agriculture and livestock development and in employment generation in all districts. The minister stated that the government will introduce economic relief packages for families of vulnerable, Dalit, Janajati and Adivasi communities who have been affected by the coronavirus.
Minister Dhungel added that a university will also be established at the provincial level to enhance the quality of higher education in the region. He mentioned that the government will take into confidence and coordinate with the main opposition party for the development of national pride projects in the province and other infrastructure development works. He said that the government will also focus on preservation of cultural sites.
Moreover, the provincial government will also coordinate with the federal government for the construction of the Bhimphedi-Kulekhani tunnel road, he said. He stated that the government will also coordinate with all parties to develop infrastructure at the local level and also to develop a tourism master plan.
The provincial government also has planned to start operation of electric buses in seven places including Kathmandu valley, the minister mentioned. He said that a tender has been called to purchase 30 electric buses within the first six months of the next fiscal year.
