As per the macroeconomic report published today by Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank, the year-on-year consumer price inflation stood at 3.65 per cent in the 10 month of fiscal year 2020/21 compared to 5.83 per cent a year ago. Food and beverage inflation stood at 4.72 per cent whereas non-food and service inflation stood at 2.81 per cent in the review month. The price of ghee and oil; meat and fish; non-alcoholic drinks and tobacco products sub-groups rose 28.20 per cent, 17.12 per cent, 9.85 per cent, and 9.84 per cent, respectively on year-on-year basis.
In the review month, Kathmandu Valley witnessed 3.62 per cent inflation compared to 5.71 per cent in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal. Likewise, Terai, Hill, and Mountain regions witnessed 3.51 per cent, 4.14 per cent, and 1.33 per cent inflation, respectively. In the previous year, these regions had recorded 6.35 per cent, 5.11 per cent, and 5.19 per cent inflation, respectively.
Meanwhile, the year-on-year wholesale price inflation stood at 8.05 per cent in the review month compared to 5.16 per cent a year ago.
The year-on-year wholesale price of consumption goods, intermediate goods, and capital goods increased 7.80 per cent, 8.98 per cent and 3.62 per cent, respectively. The wholesale price of construction materials increased 8.44 per cent in the review month.
