The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has issued a circular regarding the operation of various businesses and industries during the prohibitory order.
The guidelines mentioned in the circular were finalised after a meeting held between Arjun Prasad Pokharel, Secretary – Industry, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies (MoICS); Dinesh Bhattarai, Secretary – Commerce and Supplies, MoICS; chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur; Shekhar Golchha, President of FNCCI; and other concerned authorities.
The circular states that any employee of any industry that is involved in the production of essential goods must have the identity card of their respective organisation to travel to and from the industry. Moreover, the concerned industry must also issue a letter to the employee stating the purpose of the work of the employee on its official letter pad.
Moreover, the letter must also include information regarding the type of goods that the respective industry manufactures. The letter must also clearly mention about the involvement of the concerned employee either in the production or transportation of such goods.
The notice also mentions that any industry that does not manufacture essential goods but wants to operate the industry can file an application at the Department of Industry (DoI) in Tripureshwor seeking permission to do so. The DoI will then forward a letter to the District Administration Office requesting it to grant permission for the operation of the concerned industry and for the movement of the employees.
