President Bidhya Devi Bhandari inaugurated the 70th anniversary programme of Nepal Chamber of Commerce at the President's Office in Maharajgunj on Monday, March 15, 2021.
During the inaugural programme, President Bhandari spoke about the chamber’s contribution to the economic development of the country. She also spoke about the necessity of having a strong economy for the overall development of the nation.
President Bhandari mentioned that Nepal Chamber of Commerce had been the backbone in the country’s development efforts over the years. She also lauded the chamber’s initiatives in helping businesses through various activities at the national and international level. She also lauded the NCC’s contribution towards various socio-welfare activities in rehabilitating people affected by natural disasters and also the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the programme, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel mentioned that the government wishes to maintain a close bond with the private sector to meet the goals of national development. He also informed that the government was always ready to listen to the problems being faced by the business community and help resolve such issues. He further added that problem can only be resolved through dialogue and cooperation.
Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, stated that the government’s contribution to help Nepal's private sector move ahead through the initiative ‘Progressive Nepal, Prosperous Nepali’ was commendable. He also mentioned that the government and private sector were like the two wheels of the same chariot and there had to be synchronisation between them.
