As per the macroeconomic report published today by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank, the year-on-year consumer price inflation stood at 4.19 per cent in the 11th month of fiscal year 2020/21 compared to 4.54 per cent a year ago.
The reports states that the food and beverage inflation in the country stood at 6.22 per cent whereas non-food and service inflation stood at 2.63 per cent in the review month.
Meanwhile, the price of ghee and oil rose by 30.98 per cent. Similarly, price of tobacco products in the review month went up by 9.84 per cent and that of non-alcoholic drinks by 9.81 per cent. Likewise, the price of the transportation sub-group increased by 9.70 per cent.
The NRB report mentions that in the review month, Kathmandu valley witnessed inflation of 3.87 per cent, which had stood at 4.43 per cent a year ago. Meanwhile, the Tarai region saw inflation decline to 4.47 per cent compared to 4.86 per cent a year back.
Similarly, the Hill and Mountain regions witnessed inflation of 4.32 per cent and 1.72 per cent, respectively as compared to 4.13 per cent and 4.34 per cent inflation, respectively a year ago.
The report published by Nepal Rastra Bank further adds the year-on-year wholesale price inflation stood at 9 per cent in the review month compared to 3.96 per cent a year ago.
The year-on-year wholesale price of consumption goods, intermediate goods and capital goods increased by 9.65 per cent, 9.53 per cent and 3.92 per cent, respectively. Similarly, the wholesale price of construction materials expanded by 8.16 per cent in the review month.
