The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index dropped by a whopping 45.06 points today to rest at 2,854.76 points. This is quite a significant drop as the benchmark index had expanded by 74.71 points to close the day at 2,899.82 points on Sunday.
The sensitive index too declined by 1.59 per cent or 8.62 points to rest at 534.81 points and the float index fell by 1.54 per cent or 3.09 points to land at 198.08 points. Meanwhile, though the Nepse index declined quite sharply the daily turnover increased to over Rs 9.98 billion.
A total of 26,021,104 shares of 229 listed firms were traded today at the country’s sole secondary market through 92,192 transactions.
Today, besides the mutual fund sub-index, which expanded by 0.16 per cent or 0.02 point to 15.62 points, all the other subgroups in the share market witnessed losses.
