Industry, Commerce and Supply Minister Dilendra Prasad Badu has said that the government is studying the feasibility of re-opening the Janakpur cigarette factory, which has been closed for a long time.
While talking to the media after the inspection of the closed Janakpur Cigarette Factory Limited, he informed that a study is being conducted on how to operate the sick industries in the country and the government will take a decision after the study. While stating that the trade deficit of the country is increasing, to reduce it, with the help of the private sector, they are going to operate sick industries to increase production and create jobs by substituting imports. Minister Badu said that the Janakpur cigarette factory run by the government was once a very famous industry and now it is in a poor state, so that he has come for monitoring to understand the condition of the factory, its property, the condition of machinery etc.
During the monitoring, along with Minister Badu, Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development of Madhes State Government, Ram Saroj Yadav, State Government employees and others participated. Minister Badu said that he has a program to discuss the Janakpur cigarette factory operation with the ministers of the state government.
