The Inland Revenue Office in Bhadrapur, Jhapa district has recorded a 126 per cent progress in revenue collection. This percentage growth is in comparison to the target set for the fiscal year 2020/21.
During the immediate past fiscal year, the Office collected revenue worth Rs. 4 billion 110 million rupees. The revenue collected includes Rs. 1 billion 810 million towards income tax, Rs. 1 billion 850 million towards VAT, Rs. 440 million towards excise duty and Rs. 9.2 million in health service tax, the Chief Revenue Officer Yubaraj Shrestha said. The revenue growth is 36.54 per cent higher in comparison to the previous fiscal year.
In the previous fiscal year, the Office had collected Rs. 3 billion 10 million in revenue. Taxpayers in Jhapa, Ilam, Paanchthar and Taplejung districts contributed to the significant collection even during the adverse situation of COVID-19, said Shrestha.
