There seems to be no end to the records that the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) has been setting in recent weeks. Be it the increase in the benchmark index or the daily turnover volume, the country’s sole secondary market has been setting one record after the other.
Today too, which is the last trading day of the week, the Nepse index set a new record. It increased by 29.55 points to reach a new high of 2,856.67 points. Prior to this, the record was set on Sunday when the benchmark index had reached 2,827.93 points.
Meanwhile, the sensitive index expanded by 7.96 points today to rest at 513.11 points and the float index increased by 2.76 points to reach 197.23 points. A total of 34,691,312 shares were traded today through 155,655 transactions.
The daily trading volume crossed a whopping Rs 16.90 billion today.
The highest gainer today was the development bank subgroup, which expanded by 3.74 per cent or 146.02 points to reach 4,050.32 points. Meanwhile, the biggest loser of the day was hydropower sub-index that dropped by 2.04 per cent or 60.03 points to settle at 2,880.97 points.
