Joint security personnel from Bhaktapur district arrested 11 people involved in gambling offences from Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-7 on Friday afternoon.
One of the arrested has been identified as Ratna Kaji Awale (40) of Nagdesh in the same municipality while the names of the other 10 have not been disclosed.
Acting on a tip-off that some people were allegedly gambling in Ratna Restaurant owned by Awale, joint security personnel from the Thimi-based Metropolitan Police Circle and Metropolitan Crime Division raided the restaurant and nabbed them. They also recovered Rs 264,100 and six decks of cards from their possession.
Meanwhile, police apprehended 16 gamblers from Katunje in Suryabinayak Municipality of Bhaktapur district on Friday afternoon.
One of the arrested has been identified as Karma Tamang (32) of Ganesh Hill in the same municipality while the names of the other 15 have not been disclosed.
Acting on a tip-off, the Bhaktapur-based Metropolitan Police Sector nabbed them from a restaurant owned by Tamang in Ganesh Hill. The police also seized Rs 121,600 and seven decks from them.
Similarly, police in Kaski district held four persons involved in gambling offences from Nayabazar in Pokhara Metropolitan City-10 on Friday night.
One of the arrested has been identified as Shyamkaji Shrestha (40) of Nayabzar in the same metropolitan while the names of the other three have not been revealed.
Acting on a tip-off, Baidam-based Ward Police Office personnel nabbed them from Meghraj Rai's Chintyang Restaurant. The police also seized Rs 48,240 from them.
Further investigation into the cases is being carried out, said the police.
