Police arrested 11 persons involved in gambling offences from Tarkeshwor Municipality-7 in Kathmandu district on Saturday night. They were apprehended from Lal Bahadur's Tamang's farm.
One of the arrested has been identified as Harilal Rajba (44), a local resident of Phutung in the same municipality while the names of the other 10 have not been disclosed.
Acting on a tip-off, Balaju-based Metropolitan Police Circle (MPC) personnel nabbed them from the farmhouse. The police also seized Rs 44,855 and one deck of cards from their possession.
Similarly, police apprehended six persons involved in gambling offences from Chandragiri Municipality-3 on Saturday afternoon. They were nabbed from Kamal Thapa's residence.
One of the arrested has been identified as Kishor Bakhati (36), a resident of Dahachowk in the same municipality, while the names of the other five have not been disclosed.
Acting on a tip-off, Thankot-based Metropolitan Police Circle (MPC) arrested them. The police also recovered Rs 50,070 and three decks of cards from them.
Meanwhile, three persons involved in gambling offences were arrested from Bijeshowri, Kathmandu Metropolitan-15 on Saturday evening.
One of the arrested has been identified as Karma Gurung (53), a resident of the same place in the municipality while the names of the other two have not been disclosed.
Acting on a tip-off, security personnel deployed from the Swoyambhu-based Metropolitan Police Circle nabbed them. The police also seized Rs 22,130 and 12 decks of cards from their possession.
Similarly, police in Nawalparasi district held 11 persons involved in gambling offences from Devchuli Municipality-17 on Saturday afternoon. They were nabbed from Jitlal Thanet's restaurant.
One of the arrested has been identified as Thanet, a local resident of Kujauli in the same municipality while the names of the other 10 have not been disclosed.
Nawalparasi-based District Police Office (East) personnel nabbed them and seized Rs 43,785 and three decks of cards from their possession.
Further investigation into the cases is being carried out, informed the police.
