A total of 37 people, including 24 men and 13 women, including Chinese national Chiang He Bao, have been arrested by the police on Monday afternoon.
Deepak Shrestha, a resident of Lalitpur Mahalakshmi Municipality-7, who rented a house in Baneshwor, Kathmandu-9, had registered 'Lemon Group of Companies' and with various Chinese nationals, been involved in loan scams via multiple mobile apps. A joint team deployed from New Baneshwar Police Circle arrested the suspects after receiving information about their criminal activities. Police have also recovered four laptops and two mobile phones used for loan scams through various applications.
Further investigation is being carried out against them under the Banking and Financial Institutions Act with permission of the Kathmandu District Court for a period of 5 days.
