A total of 5,100 families were provided food items at a subsidised rate during the prohibitory order as per the Food Management and Trading Company (FMTC).
Chief of the provincial office of FMTC, Gyanu Thapa, mentioned that from June 4 to 18, the Food Management and Trading Company provided food items to 5,100 families at 20 per cent discount. He also mentioned that sale of food items to families at a discounted rate has also been mentioned in point 55 of the budget announced for next fiscal year 2078/79.
Thapa also said that the FMTC sold 1,405 quintals of rice, 30 quintals of lentils and 22 quintals of wheat flour during this period. He informed that the company had sold food items worth over Rs 87.24 lakh in the said period.
Moreover, the company has also been providing home delivery services within Kathmandu valley, Thapa informed. However, he said that there is no discount on offer for home delivery services.
