'Baluwatar Justice March' against Chief Justice today

Eight organizations, including the Greater Citizens' Movement and the Nepal Bar Association, are holding a joint rally demanding the impeachment of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Jabara as well as an investigation of his assets.

The rally will begin from the Supreme Court at 2 pm and reach the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar.

The rally will be attended by ‘Brihat Nagarik Andolan’, Nepal Bar Association, Federation of Nepali Journalists, Nepal Teachers Association, Nepal Engineers Association, Nepal Adivasi Janajati Federation among many others.

Allegations have been made against Chief Justice Jabara for failing to uphold the dignity of the court, forcing certain cases to be decided by certain judges of his choice, and for demanding a spot in the cabinet. However, political party leaders have remained silent on the issue. Leaders of various organizations have said that the Baluwatar Justice March was organized today to draw the attention of the leaders of political parties.

Legal practitioners have been protesting against Chief Justice Jabara for a month and have made his resignation, the bottom line. Even the Supreme Court judges have been going against Chief Justice Jabara.

As a result of the protest, it has been decided to appoint a session through a round of voting by reducing the discretionary power of Chief Justice Jabra. A full court meeting is being held in the Supreme Court today to decide when to begin the implementation of the decision to appoint a session from the ballot process.
