Police on Tuesday arrested a man who had been absconding after he was convicted of banking offence.
The convict has been identified as Lakpa Lama (59) of Budhanilkantha Municipality-7 in Kathmandu district. A team of police personnel deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Maharajgunj arrested Lama at Ringroad.
Patan High Court on January 22 had convicted him of banking offences and sentenced him to seven days in prison and fined him Rs 1.5 million.
According to police, a banking offence case was filed against Lama as he had issued a cheque of Janata Bank worth Rs 1.5 million to a creditor. The bank account of Lama did not have sufficient amount, police informed.
Meanwhile, Lama has been handed over to the Kathmandu District Court for necessary action, the CIB informed.
