The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a corruption case in a special court against three persons including the then Forest Officer Bishnukanta Mishra of the District Forest Office, Rasuwa.
As it was confirmed that he had taken a bribe of Rs. 7,000,000 from the service recipient to settle the contract of blood sandalwood, a case has been filed in the court today for punishment by maintaining the amount under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS.
Demanding that the bribe money should be returned to the service recipient, the commission has stated that Rs. 4 million has been deposited in the bank account of his son Navin Kumar. The commission has also filed a case against Navin Kumar for 4 million rupees.
Lakpa Galgen, the proprietor of Galgen & Tamang Pvt. Ltd. and Rasuwa Trading Company, who provided bribe money to the accused Mishra, has demanded Rs. 2,500,000. The commission said in a statement that it had demanded legal or public compensation for Galgen's death.
