Veteran communist leader Bishnu Bahadur Manandhar died on Monday evening. He was 91.
Manandhar died at Patan Hospital where he was receiving treatment for a month, his son-in-law Dr Narayan Shrestha said.
Manandhar was in politics raising voices for the country and people joining the anti-Rana movement. Manandhar, who never accepted the state's official position, played crucial roles to unite Nepal's communist movement.
According to former minister Ganesh Shah, Manandhar remained as a humble politician dedicating his entire life to the interest of the people.
Manandhar is survived by a son and three daughters. His son Sunil Manandhar is the leader of the CPN Maoist Centre.
The final rites of leader Manandhar would be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on Tuesday morning, a family source told RSS
