Ward Chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City - 10 Ram Kumar KC informed that about 50 ropanis of public land have been conserved in 11 places by establishing a park in the ward area. The public lands of Naya Baneshwor, Chakkubakku, Jogikuti, United Nations Park (UN Park), Seto Ganeshsthan and other places have been protected under the leadership of the ward.
According to the ward office, Minister for Culture and Tourism Dipendra Shrestha, who is representing Bagmati in the state assembly from the region, has also provided assistance for the protection of public land. Minister Shrestha had led the work of constructing a garden. Minister Shrestha himself has helped various schools and individuals to vacate the lands along the Bagmati and Rudramati rivers.
Ward Chairman KC said that about 20 ropanis of land belonging to various individuals and organizations have not been brought under protection yet. The ward office has already made a plan to protect those lands. The park has been developed as an open space so that it can be used even during natural calamities including earthquakes.
