Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said he was well familiar about the New Year- Nepal Sambat and national luminary Shankhadhar Sakhwa.
During a meeting with a delegation of National Luminary Shankhadhar Sakhwa: Foundation on Thursday, the PM said he was also aware about the contributions of national luminary Shankhadhar Sakhwa.
On the occasion, Foundation’s Chairman Gyanram Shrestha briefed the PM about the Nepal Sambat and Shankhadhar Sakhwa, while handing over a booklet consisting of the Foundation’s activities.
Chairman Shrestha made aware PM Deuba that there was the tradition that Chief of Government garlands the image of the national luminary- the precursor of Nepal Sambat, Sankhadhar Sakhwa. He requested the PM Deuba for gracing the event as the Chief Guest.
During the meeting, Founding Chairperson of the Foundation, Madan Krishna Shrestha, informed PM Deuba about the activities they carried out in the past. The team included various persons, including Mayor of Madhyapurthimi, Surendra Shrestha.
