Garbage piled up in various roads of Kathmandu metropolis will be picked up from tomorrow. The decision was taken at a meeting convened by Kathmandu Metropolitan City Chief Vidya Sundar Shakya on Tuesday.
"We have decided to pick up the garbage after discussions with the concerned bodies as the pollution is increasing in the valley along with the metropolis if we do not pick up garbage for a long time," said Shakya, chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
"If there is a problem that we cannot solve, we will take initiative to solve it with the concerned body. But, it is not a matter of not picking up garbage for a long time. " he added.
He also informed that discussions are being held with various agencies for waste management. Stating that waste management work has been going on in Sisdol since 2006 BS and all the responsibility lies with the Ministry of Urban Development, he said that a place has been created for garbage collection by appealing to the Prime Minister and various agencies.
