A case has been registered in the Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday against four people including Rahul (Resham Bahadur) Mahara, son of former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, on the charge of smuggling gold hidden in electronic cigarettes (Vape).
A case has been filed against Rahul Mahara, Lokendra Kumar Poudel of Kathmandu, Dawa Chhiring, a Belgian citizen living in Kapurdhara, and Nima Gurung, from Kathmandu, on the charge of indulging in organized crime, customs evasion, etc, according to joint attorney Achyut Mani Neupane.
Accused Nima is currently absconding while Dawa is also accused of involvement in the smuggling of 61 kgs of gold. About nine kgs of gold was smuggled from Dubai by hiding it in Vapes last year.
