According to Prabhat Kumar Jha, director of the Center for Quality, Research and Development, the government has a policy of constructing flyovers at the intersections of Kathmandu Valley where heavy traffic is obstructed. According to him, MS Ashish Parallel Religar JV has won the contract worth Rs. 170 million out of the nine companies proposing the construction of the flyover. The contract was awarded 38 percent less than the proposed amount. Eight companies were in financial competition for the contract. The contract will be signed within 15 days. The drawing and design of the flyover will be done by the construction company.
It is being built in the Flyover Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) format. Four months have been set aside for this. With the construction of flyovers for vehicles, traffic jams will be reduced. The Department of Roads has stated that flyovers need to be constructed at 20 places for traffic management in the Kathmandu Valley.
According to Jha, director of the center, flyovers are required at Tripureshwor, Thapathali, Maitighar, Baneshwor, Koteshwar, Chabahil, Maharajgunj, Shahid Gate, Bhadrakali, Ratna Park, Kalimati, Gaushala, Purano Bus Park, Gongbu, Gwarko, Satdobato, Ekantakuna, Jadibuti and Balkhul.
