A three-day workshop seminar entitled 'Good Governance and Social Transformation in Nepal', organized by Nepal Sociological Association, has concluded today. Sociologists from various countries presented 56 papers during the workshop.
Senior sociologists from Nepal, India, China, Britain, Japan, Norway and the USA, among various countries presented papers. More than 150 sociologists attended the seminar. The workshop was organized at the initiatives of Gandaki University in collaboration with the Department of Sociology and Rural Development, the Prithvi Narayan Campus.
The workshop was held with the objective of enriching sociology as well as of carrying out study, research and analysis of the Nepali society. Discussions were held on the political change since 1991, the movements, the People's War and People's Movement and other social movements and their evolution, according to the organizers.
Workshop president, Association chairperson and University Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ganesh Man Gurung said the sociologists should invest their skills, thinking and knowledge for the social development and the progress of sociology.
Chief of Gandaki Province Prithviman Gurung had inaugurated the workshop on September 1 at the Regional Agricultural Research Centre, Lumle.
