'Journalists must stand up for the truth with fearlessness'- Shambhu Shrestha

Chairman of the Socialist Press Organization Shambhu Shrestha has said that all journalists should be present in the local level election with fearlessness in the favor of truth.

Inaugurating the gathering of Samajwadi Press Organization Nepal Metro FM Pratishthan Branch, he said, "Journalism is always in favor of progress, so no journalist can say that regression is right."

Stating that the foundation of democracy is free and fair periodic election, Shrestha stressed on the important role of media in making the election clean, fair and free from rigging.

Bholanath Pokhrel, central member of the party and chairman of the professional committee, expressed confidence that the socialist press organization would help in the development of the media sector as it had organized good and capable journalists.

 Kathmandu Metropolitan City Spokesperson Ishwar Man Dangol said that the mass media sector and journalists should create public opinion in favor of social justice and equality.

Vice President of the organization and Upatyaka Pradesh in-charge Shantaram Bidari said that the Socialist Press Organization was established to lead the country on the path of progress.

Another Vice President Bishwamani Subedi, Secretary of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Govinda Chaulagain, Deputy General Secretary of the organization Urmila Kunwar, Chief of Information Technology Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Nawaraj Dhakal, writer Shambhu Baral and others pointed out the need to make the journalism sector more professional and dignified.

The meeting has selected a seven-member working committee under the chairmanship of Kishore Kumar Sedhai. Gaurav Pokhrel, secretary Prakash Upreti, treasurer Uden Sayami, Purna Maharjan, Jit Bahadur Magar and Babukrishna Manandhar are the members of the working committee.
