The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Office will announce its policies and programmes for the next fiscal year 2078/79 on Thursday (June 17). Like in the current fiscal year, the policies and programmes for next fiscal have given priority to controlling the spread of the coronavirus and easing the impact of the virus on the economy.
Spokesperson of KMC, Ishwor Man Dangol, informed that the policies and programmes for next fiscal year will also prioritise the completion of projects that could not be done so in the current fiscal. He also mentioned that the policies for next year will focus on easing the economic, social and cultural problems created by the COVID-19.
Dangol said that the 61st meeting of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office to announce the policies and programmes on Thursday had already been conducted under the chair of Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya.
Mayor Shakya has also urged the chairpersons of all 32 wards of the metropolitan city to submit the programmes that they want to prioritise in a planned manner. He said that like this year in the next fiscal too the KMC Office will focus on controlling the spread of the coronavirus and facilitate people who have been severely affected by the contagion.
In the current fiscal year the KMC Office had announced a budget of Rs 15.50 billion. Of this total, Rs 3.95 billion had been allocated for infrastructure development. Till date only 25 per cent of the budget allotted for infrastructure development has been spent.
