Around 1.2 million people had left Kathmandu valley to celebrate the Dashain festival since the starting of Ghatasthapana day.

The Department of Transportation Management (DoTM) had opened advance booking of tickets for the Dashain festival on 27th September and almost 1,200,000 had left the valley afterthat.

As Dashain has come to an end the number of people is returning from their village.

Around 200,000 people have returned to Kathmandu valley from 16th October till today, said SP Sanjib Sharma Das, the Traffic spokesperson at Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD). The number of people returning to Kathmandu valley is likely to increase within this week, he added.

The main transit point entering Kathmandu valley are Nagdhunga, Dakshinkali, Sanga, and Tinpiple checkpoints.

Likewise, almost 150,000 people had left Kathmandu valley after the Dashain festival, SP Das informed.

Schools and colleges have also started from today as most of the educational institution has not given one month holiday to students.

With this, vehicular movement is increasing creating traffic jams on the road.

The government offices across the nation also resumed services from 17th October.
