Minister for Drinking Water Mahindra Raya Yadav has said that construction works have advanced in a speedy manner to supply water to Kathmandu from Melamchi Drinking Water Project soon.
Minister Yadav, who arrived for the onsite visit to the water source at Helambu Ambathan, said the works are taking place smoothly to send water to Kathmandu though there are some issues in the water source after the flooding. "The flood caused a severe damage in the source. We are working in a speedy manner to provide water to the folks in Kathmandu. We will supply water in Kathmandu soon," the Minister for Drinking Water said.
On the occasion, Minister Yadav said that entire human resource has been mobilized to materialize the government's plan to ensure water supply to Kathmandu and address the issue of drinking water crisis in a sustainable way.
However, the officials said that they cannot determine the timeframe for the water supply since they were yet to confirm the loss caused due to the flood. "We are working in a war footing way. The water supply in Kathmandu could be ensured within a month," Senior Divisional Engineer Padam Bahadur Kunwar said.
