Kathmandu Metropolitan City is working on waste management at its full capacity. On Saturday, 152 vehicles carrying garbage reached Banchare Danda landfill side. A systematic plan was also made to increase the number from 250 to 350 vehicles, to carry garbage every day but there was an obstacle in the morning to work according to the plan.
Locals blocked the road, saying that, an unknown group dumped about 3 trucks of garbage in the Dhakal River near Tinpiple Eight Mile last night.
Locals were angry after garbage had been dumped in the water source. After making amends with the locals to coordinate with the police, to find the culprits, the barrier has been opened.
The head of the metropolis, Balendra Shah (Balen), says, "Waste management requires the cooperation of all those who work in the cycle of management. Since 75 vehicles are emitted daily from Kathmandu and the same amount from other municipalities, 150 vehicles of waste must be managed every day.
