Police arrested a man who had been convicted of banking offences and was absconding from Gokarneshwor Municipality-7 on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Sanukaji Mahat (46), a local resident of Khadakheti Rural Municipality-7 in Ramechhap district.
Patan High Court had convicted Mahat of banking offences and fined him Rs 4.8 million along with a sentence of 20 days imprisonment on December 29, 2020 and January 31, 2021.
Mahat allegedly gave two different cheques of Nepal Investment Bank and NCC Bank worth Rs 4.8 million to the victim by deliberately lying to them but he didn't have sufficient funds in his accounts. Thus, he was convicted of banking offences by Patan High Court in 2020.
Security personnel deployed from the Maharajgunj-based Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) nabbed him from Jorpati.
He has been submitted to Kathmandu District Court to implement the decision, informed CIB.
