Police have seized around seven kilograms of marijuana in parcels brought from the USA. The parcels were brought from the USA disguised as chocolate and toys.
A team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau of the Nepal Police seized 4.5 kilograms of marijuana in a parcel and 2.4 kilograms in another parcel in course of investigating the parcel arriving at the Customs Office, Tribhuvan International Airport, said the Superintendent of Police at Bureau, Chakra Raj Joshi.
Three people including an Indian national were arrested.
Nimesh Ashokbhai, 30, of Gujarat, India, and Faij Alam, 28, of Hariharpur of Sarlahi were arrested after 4.5 kilograms of marijuana was impounded from a parcel, mentioned as chocolate and toys, brought from the USA via the United Arab Emirates.
Indian identity cards as well as Rs 80,000 were also seized from them as well while Rs 140,000 was also confiscated from their room at a hotel in Thamel, where they were staying, added Joshi.
Similarly, 2.4 kg of marijuana was seized while checking the parcel brought from the USA in another incident. Rupak Aryal of Gorkha was arrested in this connection, shared Joshi.
An investigation has been forwarded as per Narcotic Control Act-2033.
