Nepali Congress General Secretary and Chairperson of the Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation, Dr Shashanka Koirala, expressed sorrow over the deaths of foundation’s founding members Nabindra Raj Joshi and Ashok Koirala.
In his message of condolence today, the NC General Secretary said the passing away of former minister and party central member Joshi and party’s former district president Koirala caused irreparable loss to the country’s democratic movement and the party.
Joshi who had begun his political career as a student leader, then as the Kathmandu metropolis mayor, and a lawyer was the party central member and he would be always remembered as an honest leader by the future generations.
Similarly, Koirala, who was active in student politics during autocratic Panchayat regime had served as the mayor of Biratnagar, party’s (Morang) district president and a lawmaker, was an honest and a revolutionary leader.
General Secretary Koirala also paid tribute to the late leaders and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. Leader Joshi died on March 26 in Kathmandu and Koirala on March 17 in Biratnagar.
