Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the concerned ministries to bring an amendment bill to the existing laws related to the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force so that the security bodies would be able to meet public expectations and need of the hour.
PM Oli said it in a discussion held at his residence, Baluwatar with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, secretaries of both ministries and heads of both organizations. Laws should be timely, he stressed.
The PM asked them to forward a proposal to maintain peace and security and good governance in the country.
The Ministry of Finance was asked to study the economic and administrative aspects of the draft bill to amend the law and move it forward quickly. The issue of submitting the bills to the parliament has been prioritized by the government within 100 days its office, the PM reminded.
On the occasion, Finance Minister Poudel said a conclusion would be drawn quickly after studying the bill relating to the Nepal Police, while Home Minister Lekhak clarified that bringing the proposed bill would further energize the police organization.
