Prohibitory order extended in Kathmandu valley till July 25

Shops allowed to stay open till 7 pm.

The prohibitory order that has been imposed in Kathmandu valley to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic has been extended for another 10 days till July 25.

  • Seminars, conferences, cinema halls, party palaces, dance bars, and swimming pools, among others that gather people will not be allowed to organise
  • Educational institutions will have to continue virtual classes
  • Cabinet yet to decide whether to allow long-distance public transportation

The prohibitory order that has been imposed in Kathmandu valley to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic has been extended for another 10 days. The current order which was supposed to end at midnight today has been extended till midnight of July 25.

The decision to extend the prohibitory order was taken during a meeting of the chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur that was held today.

As per the new order, shops that had been allowed to open till 6 pm till today will be allowed to open for business till 7 pm from Friday. Meanwhile, the District Administration Offices of the three districts of Kathmandu valley have said that seminars, conferences, cinema halls, party palaces, dance bars, and swimming pools, among others where large crowds of people could gather, will not be allowed to open during the extended prohibitory order.

Similarly, educational institutions have also not been allowed to conduct physical classes and will have to provide online classes. The order has also mentioned that vehicles can come to and leave Kathmandu valley for essential services.

Meanwhile, the proposal regarding the operation of long-distance public transportation has been forwarded to the Council of Ministers. The chief district officers of the valley had earlier submitted this proposal to the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) which in turn submitted the proposal to the Cabinet today.
